The deepest passion and the most attentive planning have helped create Maison Bleue, a winery focused on Rhone grape varieties of Southern France. For years I have grown to enjoy wines from places like Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu and the Cote-du-Rhone, so much that I became intrigued to understand them. This understanding turned into an obsession. That is when I found myself working with Amigoni Vineyards, a vineyard dedicated to the production of premium wine grapes, outside of Kansas City, Missouri. I was then accepted to the Professional Enology Certificate program offered by Washington State University, where I continued to pursue my future career.
Throughout this education, I knew I had to find the perfect place to achieve my dream. Years ago I had the pleasure of tasting some Syrah and Viognier wines from Washington State. I was surprised. I found the fine balance of elegance and richness to be very similar to what I experienced in France. After many visits and many wines, I came to believe that there was a future for producing great Rhone style wines from its magnificent vineyards.
My fiancée Amy and I will be starting our new life in Prosser, the historic heart of Washington’s first appellation and home of Washington States’ wine pioneer Walter Clore. I am also proud to have the opportunity to be part of The Winemaker’s Loft, a facility made of up individual winemaking studios, whose winemakers share the common goal of artfully creating fine wine.
I couldn’t have achieved these dreams without the trust and faith of these special vineyards. I thank them and look forward to many vintages to come.
